Title A name given to the resource Lachayna, widow of Sabet Cuyno: Trapani, 1464 Subject The topic of the resource Lachayna, widow of Sabet Cuyno Description An account of the resource Lachayna came from a wealthy family with business interests across the Mediterranean. As was common in Sicilian wills in this period, Lachayna first declares that she wants to be buried in the Jewish cemetery of her city. She also left a measure of oil to her synagogue (to be given within five years after her death), among other gifts, and three taris for the "Jewish priests," all for the sake of her soul. Lachayna leaves her son Luicio only the mandatory legal inheritance, because of the sacrifices and expenses incurred when he was taken captive and his family had to redeem him in Venice. She leaves him a cloak and mourning hat. She also instructs one of her universal heirs, David, to keep their slave Marzuco, after which he should free him.
