Title
Brunetta, daughter of the late Daniele di Vitale da Pisa, widow of Salomone: Poggibonsi, 1473
Subject
Brunetta, daughter of the late of Daniele di Vitale da Pisa, widow of Salomone da Cesena (or da Fano)
Description
Brunetta lived in the Elsa river valley (Valdelsa) in a town called Poggibonsi. She had two sons, Elia and Daniele with her husband Salomone. Daniele seems to have died before Brunetta testated. (She also had two daughters, Rosa and Gemma, who did not receive bequests in this will). She was the sister of Dolce, whose will (Siena, 1462) is also in this collection.
She testated in her home, which was also the location of her family's pawnshop.
Only a copy of this will exists.
Brunetta notes that her late husband left her with a great deal of debt upon his death, and that they were resolved by the time of her testation, thanks to the successful business earnings of her son Elia. Elia is named the universal heir.
Elia is also mandated to pay out money to his late brother's son, Manuele, who is eight years old at the time Brunetta makes her will. When Manuele turns twenty-four, Elia has to pay out 200 gold florins, 150 in gold coin, and 50 in furniture and household goods. Until he is twenty-four, Elia is ordered to care for Manuele, giving him food and clothing, in his own home, at his own expense.
